Privacy Policy

Overview

Pura Letra is a distraction-free reading app. We collect only what's necessary to provide the service and nothing more. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across the web.

What We Collect

• Account information — Your email address and password (hashed) when you create an account
• Saved articles — The URLs you save, along with the extracted article content, highlights, and notes
• API keys — Hashed keys you generate to connect the browser extension; only a prefix is stored in readable form

What We Don't Collect

• We don't collect browsing history
• We don't share or sell any data to third parties
• We don't use cookies for advertising or tracking

Analytics

We use self-hosted, server-side analytics with no client-side tracking scripts, no cookies, and no third-party data sharing. IP addresses are anonymized using a daily-rotating hash so we can count unique visitors without storing real IP addresses. We collect only aggregate page-view statistics to understand how the site is used.

Third-Party Services

• Stripe — Processes subscription payments. When you subscribe, your email and a customer identifier are shared with Stripe to manage billing. We do not store your payment card details. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Resend — Delivers transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset). Only your email address is shared. See Resend's privacy policy.

Browser Extensions

The Pura Letra browser extensions (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) require these permissions:

• activeTab — To read the URL and title of the page you're on when you click the extension icon. It cannot access any other tabs or browse your history.
• storage — To save your API key locally in your browser so you stay connected between sessions.
• Host permission (puraletra.com) — To send the article URL to your Pura Letra account when you click "Save to Library."

The extension only activates when you click its icon. It does not run in the background, collect browsing data, or communicate with any service other than puraletra.com.

Data Storage

Your data is stored in a secure database hosted on infrastructure provided by third-party cloud services. Passwords are hashed and API keys are stored as one-way hashes. We use HTTPS for all connections.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual saved articles, highlights, and notes at any time. You can revoke API keys from the Settings page. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use any third-party cookies, tracking cookies, or advertising cookies.
